Black raspberries have been shown to have fat blocking abilities. Studies have shown that these berries have Ellagic acid, a phenolic compound that inhibits intestinal absorption of fat to offset the effects of our daily modern diets.
The Ellagic acid has also been shown to help free radicals to soothe the cell inflammation that increases the storage of fat in your belly.
You can add these berries, if you can find them (ask your local produce guy,) to desserts, smoothies, yogurt, salads.
Make your own black raspberry smoothie by pureeing raspberries, 1 1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt, 1/2 banana, ice. Mix until smooth.
